Boris Johnson has said he believes trading under World Trade Organization terms would be ‘entirely satisfactory’ for the UK if it fails to secure a deal with the European Union before a Brexit transition period ends on New Year’s Day. During an afternoon news conference Johnson said Britain would ‘prosper mightily’ even if the talks collapsed overnight. ‘Not that we don’t want a deal,’ he added.
