But the man behind Roy Slaven, John Doyle, has just written a book, titled ‘Blessed: The Breakout Year of Rampaging Roy Slaven’ which takes us into a very different part of the Australian legend.
The fictional Roy Slaven is the narrator of the story of the life of a group of teenage boys, including the real life Doyle, as they discover girls, the Beatles and navigate a Catholic education.
