South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Japan’s Princess Mako to finally marry commoner boyfriend Kei Komuro” – below is their description.
After years of intense media scrutiny and extended postponement, Japan’s Princess Mako will finally tie the knot with her commoner boyfriend, Kei Komuro, on October 26, 2021. The couple met as students at university and were engaged in 2017. The wedding was initially expected to take place in 2018, but was delayed by controversy over a financial dispute between Komuro’s mother and her ex-fiancé. The intense media attention surrounding the royal wedding led to the princess suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Under Japan’s Imperial House law, the princess must give up her royal status to marry a commoner. Princess Mako is expected to start a new life outside royalty with Komuro in New York.
