A Japanese startup called donut robotics has created a smart mask with a built-in microphone that amplifies your voice and translates your speech into eight languages. The system can translate between Japanese and Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, English, Spanish and French.
The device is called C-FACE and it aims to help with communication between people while maintaining social distance in the Covid-19 era.
This smart mask amplifies your voice, transcribes what you say and translates speech in different languages. The mask has an embedded microphone that connects to the wearer’s smartphone via Bluetooth.
The mask is made of white plastic and silicone. It has cutouts on the front for breathability, so the smart mask doesn’t offer protection against the coronavirus. Instead, it’s designed to be worn over a standard face mask.
The startup plans to start selling the C-FACE in December of 2020 in Japan and says it will cost $40 to $50 each with extra fees for the app.
