South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Japanese lesbian couple overjoyed as landmark ruling paves way for same-sex marriage” – below is their description.
Same-sex couple Jenny and Narumi wept happy tears when a Japanese court ruled on March 17, 2021, that barring gay marriages was unconstitutional. The landmark ruling, handed down by a Sapporo court, did not change the law and Japan’s parliament will need to pass legislation before same-sex marriages can actually take place. But the country’s LGBT activists called the decision a major victory in their fight for marriage equality.
