CGTN published this video item, entitled “Japan-U.S. naval exercise” – below is their description.
With political uncertainty due to the #pandemic and U.S. presidential elections hanging over this year’s joint biennial Japan-U.S. naval drill, Keen Sword 21, Lt. Gen Kevin Schneider, commander of U.S. Forces #Japan, was quoted at a recent press release as saying, “In spite of the immense global impact from COVID, the Japan-U.S. Alliance did not falter” and has “remained ready to fight and win.” Later this month, the Malabar Exercises, a large-scale annual naval drill by members of the Quad – the U.S., Australia, India and Japan – will also take place. So, is anything different about this year’s naval drills? As the U.S. and Japan push toward what the Quad calls a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” strategy, how are China and other countries in the region reacting? And how is all of this affecting relations between #China and Quad members?
