Protesters are defying a curfew on a third night of demonstrations calling for justice for Jacob Blake, a Black man who was shot in the back multiple times by a white police officer in the US city of Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Blake’s attorneys say he underwent surgery on Tuesday and remains paralysed from the waist down.
Riot police fired tear gas to keep demonstrators from entering the court building.
A state of emergency is in place with extra National Guard troops deployed after many buildings were set on fire.
The protests are continuing despite a call for unity and calm from Blake’s mother.
Al Jazeera’s John Hendren reports from Kenosha, Wisconsin, US.
