Global News published this video item, entitled “Italy resort island landslide leaves 1 dead, up to 10 people missing” – below is their description.
A woman was found dead and as many as 10 people are still missing after a landslide engulfed buildings and swept away vehicles in the Italian resort town of Ischia on Saturday.
Torrential rain hit the port of Casamicciola Terme, one of the six small towns on the island, triggering flooding and bringing down buildings in the early hours.
A resident on the island said the landslide swept away cars, lamp posts, and overturned vehicles.
“There are some cars that are facing upwards, that are shifted to the side. Looking at them, one cannot explain how it was possible,” said the resident, who did not give his name.
Seventy firefighters were working on the island, about 30 kilometres from Naples, to rescue residents from damaged buildings and search for missing people.
