FRANCE 24 English published this video item, entitled “Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Colonial pipeline cyber attack, ANC South Africa” – below is their description.
It all came to a head Monday with a showdown over the expulsion of families of East Jerusalem, tear gas in the Al Aqsa mosque and just when Jerusalem Day day tensions seemed to be subsiding. Hamas making good on an ultimatum and at 6:01pm hitting Jerusalem with one of its rockets fired from the Gaza Strip. The attack from 75 kilometres away coming as a complete surprise, kicking off the worst fighting in seven years and the prospect of yet another war between Israel and Gaza.
Some might call it a good week for hardliners on both sides, Hamas positioning itself as defender of the cause hot on the heels of yet another election cancelled by Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas. Arab Israelis and hardline Jews clashing for a fourth night in Lod, an industrial town south of Tel Aviv airport. The shock palpable there and in other mixed communities across Israel, like the seaside town of Bat Yam. Germany and France have both banned demonstrations this weekend in support of the Palestinian cause, with Emmanuel Macron’s law-and-order interior minister pointing to incidents back in 2014 during the last Gaza War here in the nation that’s home to Europe’s largest Muslim and Jewish communities.
