Israel refuses to pay for demining at sacred Jesus site

Israel is refusing to contribute to the costs of demining a sacred site in the occupied West Bank where Christians believe Jesus was baptised.

The Israeli military laid the mines and booby-traps around 50 years ago in Qasr al-Yahud, on the banks of the Jordan River, during the 1967 Arab-Israel war.

Al Jazeera’s Bernard Smith reports from the River Jordan.
