    Israel’s president Reuven Rivlin warned of a civil war between the country’s Arabs and Jews as fury and fear over missile exchanges with Palestinian militants in Gaza ignited violence in Israel’s streets.

    Israeli police clashed with Arab protesters in the northern town of Jisr al-Zarqa and Jewish and Arab residents in Lod came to blows despite a rare night-time curfew imposed by police in an attempt to stop the ongoing riots.

    The violence took place amid escalating clashes between the Israeli military and Hamas militants in Gaza.
