The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has claimed responsibility for a wave of bombings that have killed 48 people and injured many more across Syria.
On the diplomatic front, foreign powers remain at odds over efforts to coordinate their operations against ISIL while negotiations continue to try and end the country’s five year civil war.
