Is trial of aid workers politically motivated? | Inside Story

Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Is trial of aid workers politically motivated? | Inside Story” – below is their description.

More than two dozen aid workers from different nations are facing trial on the Greek island of Lesbos

They’re accused of helping migrants reach Greece.

Among them is Syrian refugee Sarah Mardini, who was granted asylum in Germany and is the sister of Olympic swimmer Yusra Mardini.

The two came under the international spotlight in 2015, when they dragged their boat to safety for kilometres when its engine failed.

They all stand accused of spying, people smuggling and money laundering. Some could face up to 25 years in prison.

They say they were only helping other fellow humans
