Preparations to resume grain exports are underway in Ukraine, despite a missile strike on the port city of Odesa. Russia has denied any involvement. The attack came a day after the UN brokered a deal between Moscow and Kyiv to unblock grain shipments on the Black Sea. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the attack “blatant barbarism,” saying it proved Russia cannot be trusted to implement the deal.

Overlooking the Dnieper River is the Kiev Pechersk Lavra monastery complex, a Christian pilgrimage site housing Scythian tomb relics and catacombs containing mummified Orthodox monks.
Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy is a Ukrainian politician, former actor and comedian who has been serving as the president of Ukraine since 2019. Zelenskyy grew up in Kryvyi Rih, a Russian-speaking region in south-east Ukraine.
