“Our children should have a better life than ours.” That has long been a motivation for the pursuit of social mobility in Germany. It can happen over several generations and some Germans make the leap within their own lifetime. But does Germany offer enough opportunities for social mobility?
To discuss this, we have two guests. Aman Sharma immigrated from India and went from restaurant worker to successful entrepreneur. He says: “Any one in Germany can make it – It’s just a matter of attitude.”
Lisa Zimmermann studies social work and feels that as the daughter of a long-term unemployed father, she faces structural barriers.
