International opposition to Norwegian minke whale testing project

Global News published this video item, entitled “International opposition to Norwegian minke whale testing project” – below is their description.

The Norwegian government is facing pressure from scientists and environmentalists worldwide to halt a first-of-its-kind, U.S.-funded study on the Minke whales off Norway’s coast.

Researchers plan to trap a dozen of the whales to conduct hearing tests, in order to determine their sensitivity to man-made sound.

Critics say the study isn’t worth the safety and human risks for both humans and the whales.

Crystal Goomansingh reports.
