FRANCE 24 English published this video item, entitled “International brands face Chinese backlash over Uighur support” – below is their description.
A growing number of international brands are facing a backlash in China, over their support for Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang Province. H&M, Nike, Adidas, and Burberry are among the fashion labels to say they will no longer use cotton from the region, because of concerns about forced labour there. Allyson Stewart-Allen, of International Marketing Partners, says customers and employees are increasingly calling on companies to take a stand on social and environmental issues. Also in the show – traffic begins flowing through the Suez Canal after a weeklong blockage.
