Inmates try to catch and spread coronavirus deliberately at California jail

The UK’s Daily Telegraph shared this video, which it says shows inmates in Los Angeles County jail trying to catch and spread Covid-19.

CCTV footage released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department appears to show inmates sharing a hot drink and sniffing the same face masks.

County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said inmates mistakenly thought that catching Covid-19 would entitle them to early release. Within a week of this behaviour, 21 inmates in this housing module tested positive for coronavirus.
