South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Indonesia passes law banning premarital and extramarital sex” – below is their description.
The Indonesian parliament passed on December 6, 2022, a new criminal code that includes a ban on sex outside marriage. The law, which takes effect in three years, criminalises premarital sex and cohabitation of unmarried couples. The government said the new law would protect the institution of marriage. But critics argue that it could be used to police morality and warn civil liberties will be undermined.
