South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Indonesia initiates talks with both sides of Myanmar crisis amid outrage over Asean plan for polls” – below is their description.
Indonesian foreign minister Retno Marsudi said her communication with the opposition civilian government and the Myanmar army is being “conducted intensively”.
Retno has cancelled a planned visit to Myanmar, but she met her Burmese and Thai counterparts in Bangkok on February 24, 2021, amid intensified efforts to resolve a crisis that began February 1 when Myanmar’s army seized power in a coup. In Myanmar, dozens of protesters rallied outside the Indonesian and Thai embassies to denounce Indonesia’s reported proposal for fresh elections overseen by Asean poll monitors.
