Global News published this video item, entitled “Indian bride and groom float to wedding in cooking vat” – below is their description.
A bride and groom in the southern Indian state of Kerala on Monday navigated a flooded road by floating in a giant cooking pot to get to their own wedding ceremony.
A few men guided the vat through the floodwater, with the couple able to eventually perform their wedding rituals in the city of Alappuzha.
“We had fixed the wedding and held it at the auspicious time despite the flooding,” said the groom’s mother, Radikha.
The wedding came the same day that leaders in the state opened near-overflowing dams.
Rainfall across Kerala triggered flash floods and landslides in several areas, with the Indian army and navy called out to rescue residents.
In the northern state of Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted an aerial survey of flood-hit areas on Tuesday to assess the situation as at least 34 people have lost their lives.
Floods triggered by incessant rains have inundated acres of farmlands and residential areas in India’s northern and southern states.
