    Pressure is mounting on India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi to impose a national lockdown.

    A quarter of all COVID-19 deaths in the world last week were in India, as were almost half the new cases.

    The official count of infections since the start of the pandemic is now surpassing 20 million.
