ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “India is beginning to reopen as new infections slowly decline, but is it too soon? | The World” – below is their description.
India’s daily coronavirus infections have dipped below 100,000 for the first time in more than two months. In May, India was recording more than 400,000 cases a day during the peak of the country’s deadly second wave. But officials say new infections and deaths have declined across the country since then and have started to ease coronavirus restrictions. Itika Sharma is the co-editor of Quartz India in New Delhi – she says the vaccination rollout should have been a priority during the lockdown, but “that has not happened” and now they risk another spike in infections.
