ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “India builds secretive base in Mauritius as it strengthens military ties with Australia | The World” – below is their description.
New evidence is emerging of a secretive Indian military base being built in the Indian ocean. Satellite images show the construction of two naval jetties and a runway on a remote Mauritian island. The strategic outpost could also prove to be a useful location for intelligence facilities. Brahma Chellaney, a professor of strategic studies at the Centre for Policy Research, tells The World part of the reasoning behind the project is to stop China’s attempts to “muscle its way into the Indian Ocean”.
