In the UK, coronavirus is ripping through the country on a scale difficult to comprehend. Every thirty seconds, a patient is admitted to hospital and on average, more than 900 people die every day which is the highest death rate in the world.
London’s hospitals are near breaking point, caring for 50 per cent more patients than during the first wave. There is not enough specially trained intensive care staff, so they’re relying on staff from other specialties as well as volunteers.
As Nick Dole reports, vaccines offer hope, but much depends on the government drastically speeding up the roll out and even some of the country’s cathedrals have been converted into vaccination centres.ABC News (Australia) YouTube Channel
