ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “IN FULL: WA records no new cases, mandatory vaccines for FIFO and mining workers | ABC News” – below is their description.
WA has no new cases, but there will be one case reflected in today’s numbers, which was the case the Health Minister reported yesterday.
That case is a four-year-old boy, the son of a diplomat who flew into WA last Wednesday.
Forty-one of the 50 close and casual contacts of the diplomat have tested negative, with eight results pending. Fifteen close contacts will be in quarantine for 14 days.
Western Australia has mandated COVID-19 vaccinations for its resources sector with workers required to receive their first shot before December.
Premier Mark McGowan said the requirement would apply to FIFO and other workers in mining, exploration, oil and gas, and resources sites.
Mr McGowan said it also applied to anyone who works in “remote operations” or runs critical infrastructure including remote train and port control.
