The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “In full: Very frustrating’ to see countries row back on climate pledges, says Boris Johnson” – below is their description.
It is “very frustrating” to see countries that signed up to the Paris Agreement “edging towards default” on climate change, Boris Johnson says.
He recalls the words of the leader of Palau, who warned rich countries that unless they act on climate change they “might as well bomb” the countries already suffering its adverse effects.
The world is “closer than it has ever been” at Cop26 to signalling “the beginning of the end” to man-made climate change, Mr Johnson adds.
He urged world leaders who have returned to their capitals to do more by way of compromise and look at the science around the subject “with dispassionate eyes”.
“My question to my fellow world leaders this afternoon as we enter the last hours of Cop is will you help us grasp that opportunity, or will you stand in the way?”
