Two of the events – the “Suvorov Attack” and “Safe Route” contests – are being held in southwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with soldiers from China, Russia, Belarus, Iran, and Venezuela competing. The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) claimed victory in the Suvorov Attack Relay Race.

Along its Caribbean coast are tropical resort islands including Isla de Margarita and the Los Roques archipelago. To the northwest are the Andes Mountains and the colonial town of Mérida, a base for visiting Sierra Nevada National Park. Caracas, the capital, is to the north.
Xinjiang, an autonomous territory in northwest China, is a vast region of deserts and mountains. It’s home to many ethnic minority groups, including the Turkic Uyghur people. The ancient Silk Road trade route linking China and the Middle East passed through Xinjiang, a legacy that can be seen in the traditional open-air bazaars of its oasis cities, Hotan and Kashgar.
