The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency is in Tehran trying to salvage the 2015 nuclear deal. Rafael Mariano Grossi sat down with Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. The two sides called the talks constructive. Tehran said the visit will strengthen ties and build trust. Iran faces sanctions after the United States pulled out of the agreement two years ago. Tehran has since stepped back from some of the commitments. Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said that if Washington wants a new deal – it must first honor the original one.
