President Joe Biden held an Oval Office meeting with Democratic senators Wednesday as the White House and Republicans remain deadlocked over a COVID rescue plan.

During a brief photo opportunity inside the meeting, Biden welcomed the lawmakers “home.”

“This is their new home, for a while anyway,” Biden said, predicting it would be “longer than just four years.”

The president also told reporters that despite the huge gap between the two parties on a COVID stimulus package, he believed he’d “get Republican support.”

“I think we’ll get some Republicans,” Biden said.

Folllowing the hour-long meeting, senators told reporters the group also discussed the importance of getting the president’s nominees passed through the Senate, as well as the and challenges in the U.S. relationships with Russia and China.
