    The impact of closed borders has meant families who’ve lost loved ones overseas, have been unable to come together to mourn their deaths.

    The Drum has spoken to Australians with Indian heritage who have lost multiple family members.

    The Katyal family who live south-west of Sydney are grieving. They spent hours on the phone, trying to get their father a covid test so he could be admitted to a hospital.

    Eventually he was admitted, but it was too late.
