Global News published this video item, entitled “Hurricane Sally: Florida residents clean up after severe damage from storm” – below is their description.
Coastal communities in Florida’s panhandle surveyed the damage left behind by Hurricane Sally on Thursday, Sept. 17. The storm had made landfall in Alabama on Sept. 16 as a Category 2 hurricane before weakening to a tropical storm. Areas near the Alabama-Florida border were hit hard by the storm. Reports from Perdido Key show downed trees and power lines, damaged structures and inches of floodwater, while Pensacola experienced up to 5 feet (1.5 m) of flooding and travel was cut by damaged roads and bridges. Long lines of cars waiting for fuel were observed. The hurricane also knocked out part of Pensacola’s new Three Mile Bridge in Escambia County, with reports saying that more than 100,000 residents in the area were still without power on Friday.
