The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “Hurricane Ida: Two killed in highway collapse in Mississippi as devastation of storm revealed” – below is their description.
At least two people were killed when a Mississippi highway was swept away on Monday as Hurricane Ida batters America’s southeast.
Several vehicles were sucked into a 20ft deep and 50ft long trench created by heavy rains in George County, according to local law enforcement.
“I’ve never seen anything in my 23 years in law enforcement like this,” Trooper Cal Robertson of the Mississippi Highway Patrol told CNN.
A total of 10 people were injured, including three who remain in a critical condition, he added.
The collapse is thought to be related to Hurricane Ida, which ravaged Louisiana and Mississippi over the weekend and left more than 1 million homes without power.
