Hurricane Ian: Biden pledges to help residents of Florida, Carolinas rebuild after storm

Global News published this video item, entitled “Hurricane Ian: Biden pledges to help residents of Florida, Carolinas rebuild after storm” – below is their description.

U.S. President Joe Biden is visiting Puerto Rico and Florida this week to witness the massive destruction caused by recent hurricanes.

In Florida, the death toll has risen to 47 in the wake of Hurricane Ian — one of the strongest and costliest storms to ever hit the country.

Coast Guard, military and volunteer helicopters are flying into the islands off of Florida’s Gulf coast to rescue thousands of stranded residents. Homeowners have gone several days without food, water, power or shelter.

As millions of Floridians now face the daunting task of rebuilding without flood insurance, Biden has pledged tens of billions of dollars to help residents of Florida and Carolinas to rebuild.

As Jennifer Johnson reports, evacuation efforts continue for survivors cut off on Florida’s barrier islands.
