How the ‘Nigerian mafia’ exploits African women in Europe | DW News

DW News published this video item, entitled “How the ‘Nigerian mafia’ exploits African women in Europe | DW News” – below is their description.

Nigerian women make up the majority of African human trafficking victims in Europe, with most forced into prostitution. Numerous secret societies run the smuggling — and authorities say they’re increasingly violent.

One of the Nigerian Mafia’s strongholds is said to be the southern Italian village of Volturno. Often a Nigerian ‘Madame’ is in charge of a group of young women. Behind her – a well organised network of violent operatives smuggling young women from Africa to Europe.
