CGTN published this video item, entitled “How serious are China’s population woes?” – below is their description.
China on May 11 released the results of its seventh national census conducted in 2020. Data shows that China’s population stands at 1.41 billion, up by over 5 percent from a decade ago. In addition, the population is aging, raising concerns for the government. Although the population is still growing, many worry the trend may soon go into reverse. CGTN’s Tian Wei talked to James Liang, co-founder and executive chairman of the board of Trip.com and research professor of applied economics at Peking University’s Guanghua School of Management. Let’s see what the executive has to say about the situation.
