BBC News published this video item, entitled “How Pride in the UK was born – BBC News” – below is their description.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Pride in the UK, and it all started in the basement of a London university.
The Gay Liberation Front was making itself heard in protests across the capital throughout the early 70s when gay people were being arrested and same sex attraction was still considered to be a mental illness.
But by July 1972, Pride was born with 150 people taking part and a revolution was under way.
