David Tennant stars as notorious murderer Dennis Nilsen in new ITV drama Des.

Nilsen murdered at least 15 men between the years of 1978 and 1983 in London. He was sentenced to life in prison on November 4, 1983, after being found guilty for six counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Tennant has defended taking the role on, saying the drama should be seen as a memorial not to Nilsen but to his victims.
