ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “Hospitals put under pressure from COVID-19 outbreak | 7.30” – below is their description.
NSW is well beyond the point of no return in its strategy to adapt to living with COVID, and that means the next couple of months is going to be sad and challenging as the state adjusts to high case numbers and daily deaths.
Cases are predicted to peak during the next fortnight and hospitalisations will jump next month before high vaccination rates hopefully start to affect the numbers.
Modelling has confirmed the situation in hospitals will stretch healthcare workers and intensive care specialists, but it’s not just NSW in the spotlight. There is particular concern about “zero COVID” states such as Western Australia, where public hospitals are already struggling even without a single COVID case admitted.
