An Australian-first partnership between two universities and a hospital will see more homegrown medical graduates stay in regional communities and, in doing so, help solve doctor shortages made worse by Australia’s border closure.
Year 12 student Jay Warcon is applying to become part of the 40-strong cohort beginning the new CQ University Bachelor of Medical Science in Rockhampton next year.
It’s the first time the degree has been offered in central Queensland.
