Hong Kong’s Missing Booksellers – 101 East

Five men linked to a Hong Kong bookstore disappeared one after another. China-born Swedish national Gui Minhai was allegedly taken from Thailand. Lui Por, Cheung Ji-ping and Lam Wing-kei disappeared in mainland China, and British citizen Lee Bo was last seen at his Hong Kong warehouse.

Their bookstore deals in publications critical of Chinese leaders. Before his disappearance, Gui was apparently finishing a book about President Xi Jinping’s private life. Now Gui has reappeared, confessing on TV to a terrible crime. Little is known of the others’ whereabouts.

Was China behind the disappearances? Outraged Hongkongers and the international community want answers.
