South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Hong Kong’s first and last hand-painted porcelain factory” – below is their description.
Yuet Tung is Hong Kong’s first and last hand-painted porcelain factory. For over 90 years, the company has produced “Guang Cai,” a special kind of Qing dynasty ceramic originating from Guangzhou province. From workshops, first in Kowloon City and later in Kowloon Bay, the prized porcelain goods made their way to the homes of former British governors Murray MacLehose and Chris Patten, as well as five-star hotels such as The Peninsula and Shangri-La. But the factory might face closure, because of dwindling business and a lack of workers from the younger generation who are willing to learn the craft.
