South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Hong Kong hospitals set up outdoor wards as city buckles under rising coronavirus infections” – below is their description.
Hong Kong hospitals began to buckle under the strain of rising coronavirus infections as the city recorded 1,619 new Covid-19 cases and 5,400 suspected cases on February 15, 2022. Hong Kong treats all of its Covid-19 patients in dedicated isolation wards to control the airflow in the room and reduce the amount of airborne infectious particles. With isolation beds 90 per cent full, more than 12,000 infected people are still waiting to be admitted to wards or isolation facilities. At least two medical facilities have set up makeshift outdoor wards to treat Covid-19 patients. Seven dedicated public clinics for patients waiting for hospital admission began operating on February 16. But as the city sticks to its “dynamic zero-infection” policy, the strategy has come under increasing criticism since the dramatic spike in Covid-19 cases.
