    Wednesday marks the 76th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp by Soviet Forces in 1945, where Germany’s Nazis were responsible for the deaths over one million Jews and other victims during World War II.

    In all, about 6 million European Jews and millions of other people were killed by the Nazi regime and their collaborators.

    In 2005, the United Nations designated the anniversary of Auschwitz’s liberation as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
