Tens of thousands of Hindu devotees were told to show proof of a coronavirus test before immersing themselves in the sacred Ganges River for festivities under way in the northern Indian city of Haridwar. One of the world’s largest religious festivals, Kumbh Mela began on March 11, 2021, with Covid-19 measures in place.
