World Health Organization (WHO) published this video item, entitled “Health Crisis in the greater Horn of Africa” – below is their description.
Countries in the greater Horn of Africa are facing acute food insecurity. Millions of people are affected, and acute malnutrition is high.
As a result, the health risks in the region are increasing. Malnutrition makes people vulnerable to disease, and displacement and lack of water increase the risk of outbreaks.
WHO is taking urgent action to:
– Treat sick children with severe malnutrition
– Ensure people have access to health services, even when they have to leave their homes
– Prevent, detect and respond to disease outbreaks
– Provide life-saving medical supplies
– Coordinate the health response
