Eight chimneys at Victoria’s defunct, coal-fired Hazelwood power station have been demolished. Built in the 1960s, each chimney contained around 50kg of asbestos but owner Engie says there is ‘no risk’ it will be airborne. The chimneys were built in the 1960s and operated for more than half a century before the brown coal fuelled power station was shut down in March 2017
