CNN gleefully reports that Joe Rogan was corrected on his podcast, as he was debating Covid-19 and vaccines.
Around 270 medical professionals wrote an open letter to Spotify about Rogan’s stances on Covid-19 and vaccination, with many arguing that he should use his platform – with millions of listeners and viewers – to promote a position more in line with the mainstream medical consensus.
CNN has certainly proved keen to point out any time Rogan has erred, publishing several news items about the popular comedian-turned-podcaster. Out of the six YouTube videos published in The Global Herald from the news outlet’s official YouTube channel, all of them show Joe Rogan in a negative light, and with regard to Covid-19.
They have published nothing about the podcaster, on any other subject.
Questions around freedom of speech and the right for someone to voice his or her opinion swirl around Joe Rogan, as he on occasion holds unpopular or non-conformist opinions, however, as this video shows, he is able to fact check himself in realtime, something many sections of the media and politicians don’t routinely allow.
His opinion is shown to be not entirely based in fact. Rogan does attempt to qualify that he doesn’t think the study is entirely sound, but doesn’t his guest showing up his opinion – on his own show – demonstrate how a free flowing of ideas will allow the audience to make up its own mind. His non-conformist stance, taken by some to be trolling, could be argued to be a form of healthy debate?
CNN published this video item, entitled “Guest corrects Joe Rogan live on his own show. See his reaction” – below is their description.
