For over 30 years, Li Zhongqin, a scientist, has monitored traces of global warming and other environmental changes at the No. 1 Glacier at the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang. According to Li, since 1962, when the monitoring first started, 20 percent of the glacier has melted due to increased global carbon emissions and greenhouse gases.
