ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “Growing calls for an independent inquiry into Christian Porter rape allegations | 7.30” – below is their description.
This week at a press conference the Attorney-General, Christian Porter, strenuously denied allegations of a sexual assault in 1988 on a 16-year-old girl – when he was 17.
The NSW Police had already closed their investigation citing a lack of admissible evidence – and yesterday said the woman involved had told them she didn’t want to proceed with her complaint just before her death last year.
There may yet be a coronial inquest – and there are also growing calls for an independent inquiry to be held by a retired judge. 7.30’s chief political correspondent Laura Tingle reports.
